Carmen Sanges is a medical biotechnologist with a PhD in Biochemistry and Medical Biotechnology. She currently serves as the EU Initiatives Scientific and Strategic Project Lead within the Cellular Immunotherapy Program at the University Clinic Würzburg (UKW) and coordinates, among others, the European T2EVOLVE consortium, funded by the European Commission under Horizon 2020. She has seven years of industry experience managing global clinical trials in oncology and pulmonary diseases at eResearchTechnology (now Clario) and is actively involved in multiple EU initiatives, including AIDPATH, ImSAVAR, EASYGEN, JOIN4ATMP, ASCERTAIN, and CERTAINTY. Her work bridges cellular immunotherapy, regulatory science, and stakeholder collaboration, with a focus on expanding CAR-T therapy access across Europe. She is particularly dedicated to advancing non-viral CAR-T manufacturing toward clinical application, leveraging AI, including digital shadow/twin and predictive quality models, to optimize and de-risk processes. She works at the interface of academia, industry, regulators, and patient groups to accelerate innovation and improve access to advanced therapies.
