Hunter Johnson, PhD, is the CEO and Co-Founder at Axent Biosciences, a startup company pioneering next-generation stem cell therapies to address unmet medical needs in human health. He completed his PhD in Bioengineering in David Schaffer’s lab at UC Berkeley, spinning out the company with backing from venBio and YK bioventures and support from CIRM. Axent’s proprietary cell cultivation platform, termed “AXgel” enables scalable, high-quality, and cost-effective manufacturing of stem cell therapeutics, unlocking the potential for broad accessibility.
