Jose Mesa
Jose Mesa has over 15 years of experience in biotechnology investment. He has led multiple venture capital rounds and served on the boards of some of the country’s most promising biotech companies, including Sanifit, Minoryx, and Aelix in the therapeutic field; Stat-Dx and DeepUll in diagnostics; and the medtech company Medlumics.
He began his career in the business development department at Genzyme and in the Technology Transfer Program of Genoma España. Until 2019, he led the Life Sciences division at Caixa Capital Risc, the venture capital arm of CriteriaCaixa, managing over €100 million in biotech investments. He later became a partner at Alta Life Sciences, a venture capital firm focused on biotechnology and medical technologies based in Barcelona.
Jose holds a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics from the Complutense University of Madrid (2001) and a degree in Corporate Finance from the Autonomous University of Madrid (2005). He also earned an MBA (2003) and completed the Executive Development Program (PDD – 2011) at IESE Business School.
