Linda Tempelman, PhD is an expert in implantable cell therapies, particularly biohybrid solutions using electrochemical oxygen generation and holds degrees in chemical engineering from Cornell University (PhD) and Virginia Tech (BS).  At Giner Life Sciences, as CEO/CSO, she led the development of the implantable oxygen generator with funding from a pharmaceutical partnership, NIH grants and corporate funding. Dr. Tempelman is an inventor on over 10 US patent/patent applications and many corresponding international patents in life science applications of electrochemical technologies. Dr. Tempelman is currently co-founder and CEO of Persista Bio where her team is developing a fully implantable oxygenated encapsulation system for Type 1 diabetes and additional chronic diseases. In this Spotlight, Dr. Tempelman will highlight the state-of-the art in cell therapies for Type 1 diabetes, and the future of cell therapies for other chronic diseases.
