Magdalena Bengtsson Levin

Regional Policy Specialist, J&J Innovative Medicine

Magdalena Bengtsson Levin has served in Public and External Affairs, as well as Regional Access within Johnson & Johnson for over a decade, with a principal focus on facilitating patient access to innovative oncology and hematology treatments.

Over the past three years, she has played a pivotal role in orchestrating initiatives to enhance awareness of advanced therapies among healthcare payers and policy stakeholders. These initiatives include:

  • Public seminars held during political weeks in Sweden and Denmark
  • Roundtable discussions concerning the implementation of CAR-T therapies in Swedish regions
  • Webinar and hackathon focused on risk-sharing agreements and payment models for Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs)
  • Dialogues with regional authorities regarding budget planning

A notable aspect of Magdalena’s professional engagement is her sustained collaboration with cancer patient advocacy organisations and her involvement in joint educational and policy projects. She is also active in SWECARNET, an open network dedicated to the CAR-T field in Sweden, where she contributes to the development of a broader appreciation of the value that new cell therapies provide to patients and society.

Magdalena’s academic background is in Social Sciences and Medical History, with a particular interest in the decline of infant and child mortality in nineteenth-century Sweden. She earned her PhD in Health and Society from Linköping University in 1996 and subsequently participated in several research projects examining public health and social change. Prior to transitioning to the pharmaceutical industry in 2007, Magdalena held a position as Assistant Professor at Örebro University.
