Dr. Timothy Fouts is Chief Scientific Officer at Ascend-ABL, where he leads the Innovation and Translation team. An inventor and biotech entrepreneur, Dr. Fouts brings over 25 years of experience in discovery and preclinical development of vaccines and therapeutics for infectious diseases, with multiple products advancing to Phase I/II clinical trials.

His scientific expertise centers on vaccine development targeting sexually transmitted viruses and enteric pathogens, with particular focus on mucosal vaccines, microbicides, and anti-infective molecules for vaginal and rectal application.

Before joining Ascend-ABL in 2016, Dr. Fouts was a founding scientist at Profectus BioSciences, where he served as Senior Director of Virology. He led discovery and preclinical development of vaccines (including an HIV vaccine that completed Phase I trials), therapeutic vaccines for HPV, and preventative vaccines for HSV, influenza, and Henipavirus, along with antibody-based and small molecule antiviral therapies.
