Victoria was the 1st sickle cell anemia patient in the world to be treated with CRISPR gene editing in 2019. After a lifetime of pain, treatments, and hospitalizations for sickle cell disease, now symptom-free and working as a patient advocate and international speaker to spread the word about CRISPR and rare disease to clinicians, scientists, patients, and students. She is a wife and mother of four children.
