Explore some of Barcelona’s best places to eat, explore and unwind, whether you have a few hours between sessions or an evening to experience the city.
Few places capture the energy of Barcelona quite like La Boqueria.
Set just off La Rambla, this famous market is packed with colourful stalls selling fresh fruit, seafood, cured meats, cheeses, sweets and local specialities. It’s an easy place to wander, snack and take in the atmosphere of the city.
Pair it with a walk through the surrounding historic centre for an easy introduction to Barcelona.
For a change of pace, head up to Montjuïc.
Close to the InterContinental Barcelona, this leafy hillside is home to gardens, museums, cultural landmarks and some of the city’s best viewpoints. It’s particularly well suited to a quieter afternoon or a walk before dinner.
For an even better view, take the cable car up towards Montjuïc Castle and look out across Barcelona and the Mediterranean.
El Born
El Born is one of those neighbourhoods best explored without too much of a plan.
Its narrow streets are filled with independent boutiques, small cafés, restaurants and wine bars, all surrounded by historic architecture and hidden corners.
Come in the late afternoon, stay for dinner and let the evening unfold. It’s an ideal spot for drinks with colleagues or simply soaking up the city after a busy day.
Barceloneta
When you want sea air and a slower pace, make for Barceloneta.
Stretching along Barcelona’s waterfront, the neighbourhood combines sandy beaches, seaside promenades and plenty of places for seafood, tapas and a relaxed drink.
A walk along the water at the end of the day is one of the simplest ways to switch off from the conference and enjoy a different side of the city.
